So Beautiful!

Miss Rachael allowed me (her older sister, Linda) to take a few pictures of her with nothing extra. No makeup. No hair. No eyebrows. No eyelashes. Just beautiful Rachael. It amazes me how strong and truly beautiful she is. If only she knew how much I look up to her. I love you!

Don't mind the scraggly looking child, she's mine. She, like everyone else, adores Rachael. :)

What is Alopecia?

Alopecia is the loss of hair on the head due to an autoimmune disease. Therefore, her immune system fights off her hair cells causing it to fall out. There are different types of Alopecia:

1. Androgenetic Alopecia- which is general hair loss caused by genetics

2. Alopecia Areata- loss of hair on the scalp in patchy areas

3. Alopecia Totalis- loss of all hair on the head (hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, etc.)

4. Alopecia Universalis- loss of hair on the entire body

Rachael suffers from Alopecia Universalis as of December 2010. She has had Alopecia since the age of 4 but has only had partial hair loss until now.
